Dorchester may allow ATVs in village

The village of Dorchester is looking at allowing ATVs and other off-road vehicles to operate within village limits.

Dorchester is looking at officially allowing ATVs and other off-road vehicles to operate within the village, as long as the riders abide by DNR rules and possible restrictions on hours of operation.
The village board’s public works, village buildings and utilities committee will meet Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. to discuss changes to the ordinance regulating off-road vehicle operation, which currently limits operation to “specifically marked trails.” The local snowmobile club allows ATVs to operate on their trails during certain parts of the winter, but there are no locally accessible ATV-only trails for the rest of the year.
