Now that’s taking one for the team
When Trasi Reddy of the Loyal FFA Chapter signed up to play donkey basketball on Monday night at the Loyal High School gym, she had no idea it would entail this. A laptop for everyone?
Loyal school thinking about 1:1 student/computer ratio in grades 4-6
For about $8,400 a year -- roughly the amount the Loyal School District stands to lose with each student who transfers to another district through open enrollment -- the school could equip every student in grades 4-6 with his or her own laptop computer. Just think, District Administrator Cale Jackson told the Board of Education Monday night, where that would put Loyal in relation to area (i.e., competing) districts.
Fresh off a recent trip to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards Association convention in Milwaukee, where he and Board President Paul Gries were impressed by other schools’ technology programs, Jackson approached the Loyal Board Monday with an aggressive plan to put Loyal ahead in its computer offerings. Usually with new technology, Jackson said, his approach is to take it slow and let others spend and experiment, but in this case he thinks it’s readily apparent that putting electronic learning tools in each students’ hands is a wise move.

Loyal has city Council write-in candidate

Knacks’s candidacy means there are a minimum number of candidates for the Council’s Ward 1 positions. While incumbent Al Tesch is not seeking a new term in the April 3 spring election, incumbent Tim Froeba is.
