Two people dead in Town of Little Black
The Star News
December 29, 2009 —
Two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide discovered Tuesday morning by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a sheriff’s department press release, deputies were called to a residence on CTH A in the Town of Little Black at 9 a.m. for a welfare check. The initial report indicated a 48-year-old woman who lived at the home had not reported to work or notified anyone of a reason for her absence. This was reported to be very uncharacteristic for this woman.
On arrival, a deputy observed the home was secured, the curtains to all of the windows were shut and it did not appear as though anyone had come or gone from the residence for some time. After contacting department administration, a decision was made to enter the home. The officer stood by with several concerned co-workers for the arrival of a locksmith to open the door.
When officers entered the home, they located the remains of two adults. Initial investigation indicates the female resident died of blunt force injuries believed to be caused by the male resident. The man had died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Initial information indicated the man and woman had been married in the past. They have been co-habitating since being divorced in 2008.
Sheriff Bruce Daniels said Tuesday afternoon the investigation is continuing by members of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, Medford Police Department and Taylor County Medical Examiners Office. Names of the parties involved in the incident are not being released at this time pending completion of the investigation and notification of family members.

Soyk and 48-year-old Donald R. Soyk. Both resided at W6247 CTH A in the Township of Little Black, Taylor County.
