March 4, 2010 — A 47-year-old man convicted of kidnapping in Taylor County in 1999 will be released from prison next week.
Randy E. Kroeplin, whose last known address is Gilman, pled guilty to kidnapping–seize or confine without consent and was sentenced to probation, but it was revoked in 2000 and he was ordered to serve 10 years in prison. A second charge of second degree sexual assault of a child was dismissed. According to Medford Police Chief Ken Coyer, Kroeplin was convicted after sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female disabled acquaintance in 1998.
Kroeplin is scheduled to be released on March 9 to Taylor County, his county of residence at the time of his conviction. He is to be released to Community Supervision and supervised by agents from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Office in Medford. He will be on supervision until January 6, 2012.
Kroeplin will be supervised on the Intensive Sex Offender Program and will be subject to the electronic monitoring program. He will be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry program.
