Wants to find person who shot horse
Hello, My name is Rusty. I was born about 11 years ago. This Valentine's Day I was in my owner's pasture and somebody thought I was a deer, maybe because I have colors like one. I don't know, but I thought deer season was over, but the bullet that hit me was real. It got me right below my mane and went through. The idiot who shot me was a terrible shot.
I have a good owner, he's fixing me up. I may make it I hope.
Please, anyone knowing who shot me, please let the sheriff's department know by calling them at 715-748-2200. There's a reward of $500 for conviction.
Thank you, Rusty.

Time to retire Obey and get some new blood
Congressman David Obey was first elected to federal office in 1969. The minimum wage that year was $1.30. Today it is about six (6) times higher at $7.25. In 1969 we were fighting a war mucha larger than today's conflicts.
Our national debt then was $381 billion. Today our national debt stands thirty-two (32) times higher! My point is this; Forty (40) years of Congressman Obey's tax and spend policies have buried us in red ink but they haven't done squat for our income and standard of living.
Perhaps Congressman Obey is the nicest guy in the world, but we still need to retire him and get some new thinking.

Says youth snowshoe race was a great event
On Saturday, Feb. 27 the Medford Kiwanis Club sponsored a children's snowshoe event. It was designed to introduce children to the fun of winter sports. It was a spectacular success-just ask my three grandchildren.
It was an all-around well-run event. The short distance meant that even the youngest participants could do it. Kiwanis volunteers monitored the course so no one could get lost. The campus trail winds through a beautiful stand of hardwood trees. The post race get-together at the Ag center was fun. A sure sign that the Kiwanis had thought through this event was the fact that they saw to it that everyone got an award!-a finishers ribbon.
I hope this event will be repeated next year. Kudos to the Medford Kiwanis Club!
