Rib Lake looks at noxious weed rules

by News Editor Brian Wilson
The Rib Lake Village Board is looking to Medford to serve as a model for a new noxious weeds ordinance. The village board on June 12 directed trustee Bill Schreiner to work with village building inspector Bob Christensen to develop a new ordinance similar to the one that Medford uses.
According to Schreiner, he saw Medford's ordinance as part of a posting in The Star News and at thought it did a good job addressing many of the ongoing weed and debris issues the village has faced over the years.
"I don't want to be a weed cop, but if we get a complaint we should be able to do something," Schreiner said.
Trustee Doug Polacek supported going with the new ordinance noting the village has talked for years about needing to toughen its noxious weed rules.
