After graduating from grade school he worked on the family farm, then at the age of 17 enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 24 years. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Dennis Allen Jensen, 68, Ogema, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Tucson, Ariz., after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services are being planned for later this spring.
Dennis Jensen was born May 31, 1939 in Whittlesey to the late Earl and Lillian Jensen, and was raised in Rib Lake. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked in general aviation electronics and in 2000 opened Jensen Calibration, a tool calibration lab, in Ogema.

William "Bill" W. Sorensen, 59, Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at a local nursing home. Bill was born on August 10, 1948 in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late William and Lillian (Trojan) Sorensen. He was a graduate of Round Lake High School in Illinois. He served his country as a corporal during the Vietnam War in the United States Army with the 111th Artillery. On July 29, 1972 he married the former Kristine Baier at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Round Lake.

The former Irma Zuleger was born July 25, 1922 in Medford to the late Frank Carl and Anna Barbara (Frey) Zuleger. She attended the Frey School and graduated from Medford High School.
She moved to Milwaukee and married Edward Sukup. She worked at various jobs to help support the family.

Brooks Conrad, a former 38-year captain with Pan American Airways, died March 3, 2008 of complications from renal failure at his home. He was 88 years old. At retirement he moved to Stuart, Fla. from Key Biscayne, Fla. in June 1980 and to Winter Haven, Fla. in 2005.

Thomas Keefe
1925-2008
Thomas F. Keefe, age 82, of Medford, died Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born in Beloit on October 27, 1923 to Thomas F. and Rose Ellen (Boheim) Keefe. His parents both died before he had reached school age, and he came to Medford to live with his grandfather, Fred Boheim. Tom attended Holy Rosary Grade School and he graduated from Medford High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II aboard the USS Wyoming. He married Melva Jean Strebig on June 12, 1947 in Wausau. He worked for Thorp Finance, Martin Motors and Montgomery Ward, before being recalled to active duty aboard the USS Monson during the Korean conflict. He returned to Medford in 1953 and joined Strebig Auto Co. and its TV Sales and Repair division. In 1956, he and Raymond Lange co-founded Northland Furniture Company. In 1970, Tom, by then sole owner of Keefe's Family Furniture, moved the business to Medford's "Miracle Mile." He retired in 1988, and he and Melva enjoyed life together spending their winters as "snowbirds" in Sebring, Fla., and their summers in Medford, and travels in the U.S. and abroad in between.

Harold J. Tlusty, 92, Medford, died Monday, Jan. 28 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where he had resided the past year. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in the Town of Little Black. His grandchildren will be pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and on Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

Former Rib Lake resident Viola Clara Scholz, 91, Phillips, died Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Bernie Byrne officiating.
