You can call The Star News office Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To order or receive rates, call 715-748-2626. E-mail us at: starnews@centralwinews.com.

How can I pay for my subscription?

What do I do when my paper is late or missing?

It may be that your subscription has expired. Call The Star News office at

When is The Star News available?

The Star News is printed on Thursday and the newspaper is available at our office Thursday afternoon to subscribers and non-subscribers. When the newspaper arrives at our office, we put a RED flag out on the front of the building. So if you see the RED flag, stop in and pick up The Star News. The Star News is also available Thursday afternoon at local news stands. The Star News is mailed by U.S. Postal Service on Thursday.

Can I subscribe to The Star News Shopper?

No. The Shopper is mailed according to postal regulations. Although you are always welcome to stop in at The Star News office to pick one up during business hours as early as Tuesday.

VOX POPS (Letters to the Editor)

Vox Pops, from the Latin vox populi or “Voice of the People,” are the opinions of our readers and reflect subjects of current interest. All letters must be signed and contain the address and telephone number of the writer for verification of authorship. Letters may be edited.

The Star News opinion pages provide a forum for public debate on a variety of issues. In regard to election-oriented letters, preference will be given to submissions that address issues rather than those that focus on candidates. Letters in support or opposition to candidates should focus on the issues. Personal attacks against candidates will not be run.

Deadline for submission is Tuesday at noon. Mail to: Vox Pop, The Star News, PO Box 180, Medford, WI 54451. You may also fax your letter to (715) 748-2699or e-mail starnews@centralwinews.com. Letters may be up to 500 words, typed (if possible) and must bear the author's address and telephone number. We will contact you in person to verify authorship of the Vox Pop.

ACCENT ON PEOPLE

Engagement, wedding and birth announcements, and anniversary and reunion stories are published without charge. If you submit a photo and would like it returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Forms are available online or at The Star News office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can also E-mail us your information at people@centralwinews.com. Please contact us if you have questions concerning announcement deadlines. Information is published as space is available.

OBITUARIES

Obituaries are published at free of charge. The Star News reserves the right to edit obituaries for space, style and information included. A submitted photo may also accompany your obituary at no charge.

Basic content will be included in obituaries. Please see the obituary form. Extended biography and other information can be included for a fee. For more information, call 748-2626 or e-mail people@centralwinews.com.

COMMUNITY CALENDAR

Each edition of The Star News includes the Community Calendar which lists meetings and activities of clubs, organizations and other non-profit organizations throughout the area. Please send requests at least a week prior to the desired publication date including the name of the organization, event date, time and place, admission charge, if any, and the name and daytime phone number of one person we may contact with questions. What's in The Star News classifieds?

Classified advertisements are word ads (no border) in which the first two words are capitalized. For Rent, Auto, Help Wanted, Real Estate and Miscellaneous For Sale are just a few of the classifications to choose from.

What is the cost of a classified ad?

The rate is 20 words or less for $6.00, over 20 words is an additional 20¢ per word. This rate is per week, per publication. In addition to The Star News and The Shopper, we offer other publications such as the Abbotsford newspapers and shoppers. Can I buy back issues of The Star News?

Yes. Back issues are available for purchase at The Star News office for up to one year after publication, but quantities are limited.

The Star News has a circulation of 6,500.

Can the public tour The Star News office?

Group tours can be arranged by calling the office at 715-748-2626. All tours are conducted on weekdays. Please schedule at least two weeks in advance.
