Rock misses Olympic trial
Andrew Rock, Stratford, was slated to run the 400 meter dash in the Olympic trials in Eugene, Ore., on Sunday, but wasn’t present at the race’s start.
On Wednesday afternoon Rock said, "I felt so sick during my warm-up that I just couldn’t race. Maybe it was the heat, but I’m really not sure what it was. I just felt terrible. I was so disappointed that it took me a couple of days to even be able to talk about it, but now I’m ready to move on and get back to work."
By not running his first round race Rock is out of the competition.
Rock won a gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics after running the third leg in the first round of the 4x400 meter relay in Athens.
