My brother and I are having a little fun with football. He’s a die hard Brett Favre fan and well, I happen to think its not the quarterback that wins games, its the whole team.

Les doesn’t know yet because he’s an on road welder but I’m keeping score and can’t wait until I see him again to give him some old fashioned ribbing.

I’m a Packer fan no matter what - win or lose. He claims to be a fan but the minute Favre signed with the Jets, he bought a #4 Brett Favre Jet jersey. Crazy kid hasn’t learned yet that material objects aren’t going to make your favorite guy win games.

His comment was “Aaron Rodgers isn’t a quarterback.” Mine was, “Let Favre go, he doesn’t want to be in Green Bay anymore and by the way, he isn’t the greatest ball handler when the temperature is below zero.”

Sibling rivalry is so much fun.

I have something big over him. The Jets couldn’t beat New England last week but Miami kicked booty this week and gosh golly gee, Miami was being looked at as one of the worst teams. I really, really wanted to call and rub it in, I would have taken the comments about how the Packers lost because heck, they haven’t been able to beat Dallas in years but I’m waiting patiently, keeping score.

Besides that, I also have standings on my side. Jets are 1-2, Packers 2-1.

Oh I know, things can change fast...look at the Brewers. Sorry, that was a bit low wasn’t it? I’m not a baseball fan for no other reason than they are overpaid - with an average salary of three million dollars, they should at least have to endure a bit of physical contact instead of just running around bases and taking steroids to hit home runs. The median salary for the 2007 Green Bay Packers team was $440,500. Football players have major risks. If someone gets hit too hard, they could be paralyzed, or worse, a life could be ended.

Enough about wages. Back to the standings. The standings say a bit about Aaron Rodgers and the team I think. Aaron just needs some playing time, its not like he had the chance to be anything but a bench warmer in the past years.

If Aaron took notes and paid attention while relaxing on the bench, watching the “Legend,” he will do just fine once he has more playing time. He just needs a bit of confidence in his moves and the team. The offensive line needs to take care and cover him better than they did last week but that also comes with time -  I hope not too much!

I think it would be awesome if the Packers and the Jets end up in the Super Bowl this year. You’re laughing at me, I can tell.

Think about it - Aaron Rodgers vs. Brett Favre - how fun would that be?

The New vs. the Old, the Student vs. the Teacher, the Best vs. the Good - okay, I’ll stop now, you get the picture.

I’m going to hate seeing my brother get defeated by his quarterback this season. Les has put so much confidence in a washed up old guy (I can say that, I’m almost Favre’s age). I guess my brother has to make his own mistakes and learn by failure, his dutiful, wise sister has tried to make him see the error in his ways.

Go Pack Go!

Now, to work on his Nascar choice and try to convince him the Aflac duck is much cooler than a DeWalt tool...
